Laura Greene

Laura is a lifelong yogi, broadcaster and mum who’s spent almost two decades teaching yoga on both sides of the Atlantic.

Laura was raised with an holistic approach to wellbeing and community. She has early memories of toddling on her mother’s yoga mat at Krishnamurti retreats in the 1970s, and savoured outdoor yoga in the apple orchard before exams at school.

During her long career in front of the TV cameras Laura relied on a dedicated yoga practise to provide strength and calm amidst the chaos of a demanding, high profile career. She was attuned to Reiki level 1 in the late 1990s and relishes the opportunity for energetic exchange within all meaningful experiences.

Relocating to the United States in the early 2000s for the prestigious National Geographic, Laura was welcomed into the blossoming East Coast American yoga community there, and helped shape the “kula” (family, or tribe) of many emerging studios. Studying diverse styles through a wealth of teachers, Laura formalized her own teaching with a 200hr certification through YogaWorks (renowned as the “Harvard of Yoga TTs”!) in 2007 in Washington, D.C., and has been teaching worldwide and continuing her studies in yoga ever since. Recognized as a community leader in wellness, Laura was selected as one of the first U.S. “Yoga Ambassadors” by lululemon, and enjoyed two years leading regional workshops and retreats in one of the largest metro areas in America.

Laura teaches a mindful class in the style of YogaWorks. This powerful blend combines the focus on safe alignment from the Iyengar school of yoga with the fluidity of movement from Ashtanga to create a well-rounded and healthy practise for all bodies and desires.

Laura can’t imagine life without the support and sanctity of her daily yoga practice and considers it a privilege to introduce new yogis to the mat. Having designed courses specifically for beginners, she firmly believes even lifelong yogis benefit from “beginner’s mind”, an outlook that takes us off the mat and into the world. Laura is committed to the power of community and can’t wait to welcome you to your mat at Thrive. You will leave her classes coming back to yourself, with a strong, flexible body, a calmer mind and a more joyful heart!
