Service Description
Start the day by giving yourself the gift of an hour to move through a mindful sequence of yoga poses and breathwork to improve strength and flexibility, unite body and mind and bring us back to our centre, refreshed and revitalized. We’ll begin right where we find ourselves, by grounding and connecting with our breath, then warming up the body and stretching, before flowing through sun salutations woven with some longer held poses. Moving at a slower pace makes for a practice both challenging and accessible to all, as we explore new ways to move into familiar poses as well as safely aligned modifications for newer yogis. We’ll always finish class with a satisfying relaxation and guided meditation to clear space and find stillness, so you’ll leave class feeling restored and ready to take on your day. Laura teaches a powerfully-blended style of yoga combining the alignment of Iyengar yoga with the fluidity of movement from Ashtanga to create a well-rounded, intelligently sequenced and healthy practise for all levels of student. Yoga is about so much more than just making shapes on your mat, indeed: “yoga exists to still the fluctuations of the mind stuff” so wrote the sage Patanjali in the blueprint to yoga philosophy, the Yoga Sutras. At least that’s how we can loosely translate the second sutra, or “thread" of ancient yogic wisdom. So here’s to quieting the mind stuff, together!
