YOGA & CLASSES
At Thrive, our classes are accessible to everyone, beginners as well as more advanced practitioners. Underlying all of it is bringing
mindfulness and presence to the work – the all-important Zen part which makes yoga truly yoga and not just gymnastics.
Yoga is a discipline that can be practiced by everyone regardless of age, shape, flexibility, believes, health conditions and injuries. There are lots of variations and modifications that can be tailored to an individual’s needs. It is important to practice at your own pace and ability.
Neurogenic Yoga with Eli

The beginning of a magical journey...
Neurogenic Yoga™ is a revolutionary technique in trauma healing and stress reduction.
This practice combines yoga asana and pranayama with the body’s natural, therapeutic shaking response. This shaking response in humans, much the same as the instinctual shaking in animals, is the nervous system’s way of discharging long-held tension and trauma, or unconscious muscle contraction in order to restore the body to wholeness. When the nervous system identifies threat, vibration or shaking in the body is designed to occur automatically. However, negative social constructs and beliefs around what it means to allow ourselves to shake, tremor, or show vulnerability, condition us out of this innate release mechanism at a very early age. Neurogenic Yoga™ reawakens our body’s intrinsic release mechanism for optimal health.
Neurogenic Yoga™ is a simple, gentle and profound practice that facilities the lengthening and relaxation of the psoas muscle and the release of physical and emotional stress and tension. During a Neurogenic Yoga™ practice, we safely self induce therapeutic vibration using yoga postures and breath. Often vibration begins in the legs and may spread throughout the entire body. This method is based on Dr. David Berceli’s technique of Trauma Releasing Exercises™ (TRE™).

Each class works upon a specific ‘Kriya’, a series of held postures and movements that emphasise breathing techniques to awaken the Kundalini energy that resides within the sacrum or ‘sacred bone’, this energy is then channelled up through the chakras, raising your
inner vibration and elevating your consciousness.
These classes increase feelings of physical, emotional and spiritual well-being, providing insight and tools to create powerful changes in your life. Everyone is welcome and all levels of ability can benefit from this practice.

Meditation and shamanic drumming with Eli

To me one of the most powerful tool you can have in life is mindfulness. What does this mean? It means that you are aware of your feelings, thoughts and emotions at any time and know how to shift your mindset when you go into dark places or when life seem to throw difficulties at you.
Meditation will help you get in touch with yourself but in this course we will go further by exploring how to then turn your life around and have your mind working for you rather than against you.
I am a big believer that our thoughts create our reality so this can be one of the most transformative journey you will take. Simple (not easy) but effective!
When?
This class isn't currently on our timetable but we can put it back if we have enough demand. Get in touch if you want to see this back up!
For whom this class is suitable?
This class is suitable for most people. However it is not recommended if you have schizophrenia or if you are bipolar.
Chair Yoga with Eli

The revolutionary concept of chair Yoga makes the numerous benefits of classical yoga available to a wider range of physical abilities. This Yoga can be practised by anyone, in a chair, to stimulate physical and mental wellbeing. It is particularly beneficial for elderly, individuals rehabilitating after injuries or illness and those with disabilities.
In this class, you will do exercises that activate the feet, legs, arms, and hands, back, neck region, eyes and even the brain - so that those with restricted mobility no longer need to give up yoga, but instead, by means of movement, can take their destiny in their hands and improve their circulation, deliver more oxygen to their cells and so gradually increase mobility and enhance brain function.

Yin Yoga with Ray

Seasonal Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga, incorporating principles of traditional Chinese medicine and the 5 Element Theory. Our classes will work through the seasons of the year honouring our natural rhythms with nature.
Yin yoga works deep into the body with passive, longer-held poses where we cultivate stillness. Yin yoga centres on placing healthy stress to the deeper connective tissues known as the fascia, ligaments and tendons. These deeper tissues require longer held poses with an emphasis on healthy stresses to be stimulated effectively.
Overtime, Yin yoga can improve flexibility and mobility, leading to greater joint health and range of motion. Extended holds in Yin yoga stimulates and supports the parasympathetic nervous system, reducing stress and anxiety, while promoting relaxation. The postures we hold in our Yin practice improve blood flow and circulation throughout the body, aiding the flow Chi (energy) along the meridians (energy pathways in the body) and mood regulation.
The slower pace of yin yoga and the focus on the breath can help to improve mindfulness and concentration. Yin offers a safe container while you observe your thoughts and to deepen your listening skills. You have the opportunity to witness your mind and the sensations in your body, this provides you with the gift of self awareness and greater
mindfulness.
In a fast paced world, where DOing is celebrated (Yang energy), we invite you to join us in stillness and more BEing! (Yin energy)
Slowing down
Coming to stillness
Going deeper
Being present
Yin is the new rebellion.
This class is 1 hour 20 mins long and will roll with the seasons. The 5 Element Theory forms the foundation of Traditional Chinese Medicine and invites us to honour our most natural state of being and flow with nature. The elements show us how our organs and structures are connected. In Yin we aim to work the organs related to the season
Fire - Summer
Earth - Late summer
Metal - Autumn
Water - Winter
Wood - Spring
It is a wonderfully balancing practice to bring a bit of calm and quiet especially when life is
often so busy. It serves our body and mind in a really beautiful way.
We will provide mats, bolsters, blocks and blankets for your most comfortable yin
experience.
Open to all, no previous experience required. We look forward to seeing you join the Yin
rebellion soon!
